Here is the schedule I'm planning on:

Sign-ups: April 24-May 1
Assignments sent out: May 3 (or earlier)
Assignments due: June 14
Assignments revealed: June 21
Creators revealed: June 28

There is some flexibility on these dates, so if you know you want to participate but would need, for instance, sign-ups to last a little longer, please let me know and I'll see if I can make adjustments. It's a little earlier this year in order to avoid overlapping with The Harbors of the Sun coming out on July 4.

I'm going to try including the option of fanart this year, as well as fanfic. Art should be a completed piece of traditional media or digitally-created artwork created 'from scratch' - that is, not icons or manips. Fic should be a completed piece of at least 1000 words.

Requests will be a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 requests, each one including from 1 to 5 characters. While it is possible to duplicate characters from request to request, I do ask, just for the sake of matching, that you not include the same character(s) in every request. So for instance, it would be possible to request Moon and Stone, Moon and Jade, Moon and Chime, and Moon by himself, but I'd ask that you also try to come up with a request that doesn't include Moon, just in order to try and ensure people can be matched more easily.

Offers will be a minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 offers, each including from 1 to 5 characters. Same rules apply as with requests - while it's permitted to duplicate characters, please try to vary it somewhat to allow for a wider range of matches!

The tag set from last year is visible here, which I think includes all the characters from the series. They don't show up in alphabetical order, unfortunately, so someone may appear to be missing but may actually be down at the end of the list. If you notice someone I've left out that you would be interested in requesting/offering, please let me know and I can add them. In a few cases when the character's name is not currently known, I've entered them using a descriptor and which book they appeared it, such as "Trading Post Sealing (The Edge of Worlds)". If you're unclear on who an unnamed character is meant to be, or you would like to add another unnamed character I haven't included, please let me know.

There will also be, as last year, the option of requests/offers that do not include any of the books' characters, such as for world-building stories/art, works set in another time period than those we've seen in the books, excerpts from the writings of Three Worlds scholars, and so on. This will be done by requesting or offering 'Original Character(s)'.

It will also be possible to combine original character(s) with canonical characters, as each request will be able to include between 1-5 characters. So it would be possible, for instance, to make a request for Stone and Original Character(s), if you were interested in something about Stone exploring a different part of the Three Worlds.

No other tags (relationships, additional tags, ratings, etc) are going to be required. All that is guaranteed is that you and your recipient will match on one request of 1-5 characters, and on chosen media (fanart or fanfic). Optional details can be provided to assist your author/artist, but authors/artists do not need to follow provided prompts - however, they will be expected to abide by any stated squicks, triggers, and Do Not Wants.

If you have any comments or questions, you can leave a comment here, or contact me at raksuramod at gmail dot com. Please spread the word to anyone you think might be interested, as well!

Since things went well last year, I'm planning to run a second round of this exchange! I wanted to see whether anyone had any feedback on last year, whether there were things that could have been improved, or that you'd like to see done differently this year. Did the number of requests/offers work well for you? The timeframe? The length of the assignments?

One thing I'm considering is whether to include fanart as an option. If I did so, would you be likely to offer it or ask for it?

Also if you have any thoughts on the schedule, let me know! I'm thinking right now of a similar time-frame to last year - signups in May, with assignments due in July - but haven't set specific dates yet. If adjusting the dates would make it more likely you could participate, I can try to make changes as needed.

And please let other fans of the series know that this is coming up! I'd love to increase the number of people who participate this year :)

You can leave comments here, or contact me at raksuramod at gmail.com. Looking forward to more great Three Worlds fanworks!

Since I fell in love with the world and culture of the Raksura I've been longing to roleplay in said world. So naturally I've been on the lookout for a roleplaying game starring Raksura, but have as of yet not had any luck.

I'm open for playing via e-mail or forum - or blog if anyone is in the mood for that - and had in mind original Raksura characters in a made-up court that has fallen on hard times, possibly having fled from a Fell attack (to avoid having a hundreds of NPCs to keep track of). This can of course be adapted and changed, it's just an idea :)

Not looking for a highspeed game; just a for fun, whenever-participants-have-time kind of thing. I've been admining and playing in play-by-post rpgs and other kinds of rpgs for 15+ years. I have no "demands" on roleplaying experience from my fellow players. Any takers?

The authors of the 15 awesome fics in the collection will be revealed tomorrow, July 13, around 7pm EST. Remember to thank your authors and take time to read through the other works if you can - they are all wonderful! I'm so impressed by the quality of the works in this fandom, you rock :)

Thanks again for participating, and feel free to keep using this comm for discussion or meta about the Raksura books, or links to Raksura fic or art. I'll definitely run this exchange again next year, so keep an eye out for that as well!

The collection is now open for reading! I'm pleased to say that with this exchange we took the number of Raksura fics on AO3 from 39 to an amazing 54 stories! Great work, everyone!

Thank you so much to all the participants - I hope you had fun! Please take time to say thank you to your assigned author, and enjoy reading through the collection.

Barring any issues, I plan to open the collection in about 24 hours from now - around 7pm EST on Friday. Apologies for it being slightly later than planned - we're still waiting on one story but hopefully it should be posted soon. If you have any treats you're working on, or need to make any final edits to your story, consider this your 24 hour heads up!

When you receive your gift story, please take the time to leave a comment for your author! Authors will remain anonymous for a week following the stories going live.

Please contact me if you have any questions, and thank you all for participating in this first round of the exchange. I hope there will be more in the future!

The deadline for posting your stories, unless you have requested an extension, is Thursday June 30th at 11:59 EDT, or a little over two days from now.

If you need a brief extension, please contact me at raksuramod at gmail dot com so that I'll know you're still planning to finish and won't assume that you've defaulted.

If you know that you're not going to be able to complete your assignment, you can click the Default button on your Assignments page on AO3, and I'll find a pinch hitter for your assignment.

After the deadline, there will be about a week before the collection opens for reading. This will allow time for last-minute edits, extensions, treats, and pinch hits if any are needed. I'll post here to give a 24 hour warning before the collection opens, so that if you are making any final tweaks to your story or trying to finish up a treat, you'll know when it's close to the time.

Best of luck finishing your stories and I hope everyone is excited for more Raksura fic!

There's just under three weeks remaining to get your stories in for the Three Worlds Travelers exchange. I hope everyone's doing well! However, if you do need to default on your assignment for any reason, please don't feel bad - just click the Default button and I'll work on finding a pinch hitter for your recipient.

As it may be getting to the time where people are looking for betas for their stories, please leave a comment here if you're willing to beta, with information about any restrictions - if there are types of work you are unable to beta, time constraints, or anything else an author might need to know. Be sure to include your AO3 name (so that your assigned author won't accidentally ask you to beta their gift) and a preferred means of contacting you, so that authors can get in touch!

If you have any concerns or comments, let me know, and good luck as we all get into the home stretch!

Everyone should have received their assignments - if you haven't received an email, you can go to your AO3 page and check under 'My Assignments'.

You will have until June 30th to complete a story of at least 1000 words featuring the character(s) in one of your recipient's requests. If you find that you're not going to be able to complete your assignment, you can click the Default button at any time, and a pinch hitter for the assignment will be located.

All the requests are visible, so if anyone is interested in writing treats, that is certainly an option :)

I hope you'll have fun writing, and please let me know if you have any questions or problems!

The schedule I'm considering for the exchange is:

Sign-ups: May 9 - May 16
Assigments sent out: May 19 (or earlier)
Assignments due: June 30
Assignments revealed: July 7
Creators revealed: July 14

There is some flexibility on these dates, so if you know you want to participate but would need, for instance, sign-ups to last a little longer, please let me know and I'll see if I can make adjustments.

The exchange will be for fanfic only - if it goes well and there's sufficient interest, I would love to expand it to include fanart next time. Works will be a minimum of 1000 words, and can be of any rating.

Requests will be a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 requests, each one including from 1 to 5 characters. While it is possible to duplicate characters from request to request, I do ask, just for the sake of matching, that you not include the same character(s) in every request. I'm trying the experiment of not doing nominations - I've created a tag set which you can view here, which I think includes all the characters from the series. They don't show up in alphabetical order, unfortunately, so someone may appear to be missing but may actually be down at the end of the list. If you notice someone I've left out that you would be interested in requesting/offering, please let me know and I can add them. If you're unclear on who an unnamed character is meant to be, or you would like to add another unnamed character I haven't included, please let me know.

I'm also planning to allow the option of requesting/offering fic that does not include any of the books' characters, such as for world-building stories, stories set in another time period than those we've seen in the books, excerpts from the writings of Three Worlds scholars, and so on. This will be done by requesting or offering 'Original Character(s)'.

I started this comm because I wanted to find other fans of Martha Wells' Raksura series (The Cloud Roads, The Serpent Sea, The Siren Depths, and The Edge of Worlds, plus the various short stories and novellas set in the Three Worlds). I hoped to provide a place to discuss the books, as well as creating a communication point for the fic exchange I'm planning to run soon, Three Worlds Travelers.

Watch this space for updates coming soon about the schedule for the exchange or other Raksura-related posts!
